Romantic walking tour in the shadow of the Acropolis
A romantic walking tour that takes us through the cobbled streets of the most beautiful area of Athens, the neighbourhood of Gods called Plaka to the one of the most famous Museums of the world, the Acropolis Museum.
The walking tour will start from the beautiful 19th-century neoclassical building where the School Life and Education Museum is housed. Once the building tells you its own stories, we will walk in the oldest street of the city of Athens. This tour is filled with romantic stories below the Acropolis. Our tour includes a lot of historical and lesser known information, as well as various love stories about various famous people that lived in the area from the ancient until the modern times. Plaka is the oldest and most famous neighbourhood of Athens, where neo-classical architecture meets ancient, Byzantine and Ottoman monuments, there we will walk among the neoclassical houses and cross alleys that resemble small labyrinths through which we will discover a hidden small “Cycladic” island built under the Sacred Rock of Acropolis. There, we will stand and admire the panoramic view of the city of Athens.
Then we will take a rest tasting a traditional liqueur at the oldest and most picturesque Athens-based beverage shop. We will continue having a unique evening tour at the New Acropolis Museum.
You will find out the secrets of the Caryatids, admire the metopes of the Parthenon, the statues of Kore and Kouro and the coloured statues. Small and big secrets will be revealed as the history journey will take you thousands of years back.
In the end, drinking coffee or tea at the New Acropolis Museum's café, we will have the chance to enjoy a different view of the most famous monument all over the world, the Parthenon, as it will be bathed in the magical colors of the sunset.
